Who is next?

I have been fortunate in my career to work with some great local broadcasters. Chuck Leonard, Andy Still, Dave Platta, Daryll Jones, Phil Scoggins, Teresa Whitaker, and many others during that time. Some you might not remember, including Steve Beverly, who left TV to become a professor at Union University and continues as a master of TV classics.

I was also honored to work with Pat Sajak, former host of Wheel of Fortune, when he did weather in Nashville, which is where I got my start. I met Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and many other country music icons because they came to the WSM studios almost weekly.

When I left WTVM after almost 12 years, I worked with Nick Clooney, George Clooney’s dad, in Cincinnati at WKRC TV. I was grateful to get front row seats when Nick’s sister, Rosemary, performed with the Cincinnati Pops.

In a span of more than 20 years, I interviewed two Presidents, a Secretary of State, authors, and musicians. I covered the first launch of the Space Shuttle and traveled to Argentina for a documentary about Halley’s Comet.

I am now lucky to be working with Robbie Watson to build the future of Now Georgia’s online venture. Robbie has been well respected for almost 30 years as a broadcast journalist.

All of that to say, even after leaving TV and working for two nonprofit organizations in fundraising, it all comes down to telling stories, and everyone has a story. Whether it is how weather affects your life, how your background led you to start a business, or why you are driven to build a better future for families in our community who need a helping hand.

I have a lengthy list of stories I want to tell. If you have one, let me know. Meanwhile, stay tuned for who is up next.
