White County commissioners, this week, approved accepting Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) Local Maintenance and Improvement (LMIG) funding to help with some local road projects.
The grant is in the amount of $552,397, with the county using that money to help fund $1.2 million in local projects.
White County Commission Chairman Travis Turner detailed the projects, “Leveling and overlaying portions of the following roads, Albert Reid Road, Kinsey Town Road, Henry Nix Road, Underwood Farm Road, and Loudsville Church Road, overlay on Sutton Road, and the stripping of Old Highway 75 South.”
The time frame for when these road projects will get underway depends on state funding and weather conditions.
County Manager Derick Canupp said the county could be in line for some additional Local Roads Assistance funds that would be used to help with road projects in the county.
