Winter returns this week, next front Wednesday night

We’re entering a fairly active weather pattern, at least for forecasters.

Winter has returned in force with widespread severe storms on Saturday. Behind the front we will turn much cooler to close out the weekend with highs topping out only in the low-50s. Winds will remain very gusty on Sunday as well with 25-30 m.p.h. gusts likely early then dying down quickly after sunset. Overnight lows will drop below freezing for the first time in a while so be sure to double check any exposed outdoor pipes you may have uncovered during the warm spell.

Sunshine will continue to dominate as we kick off the work week with much calmer winds. Highs will again reach only the low-50s on Monday but quickly moderate back to the mid/upper-50s on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Our next major cold front will approach the area on Wednesday, and weather models are having a bit of a hard time with it. There is an chance for some isolated showers on Wednesday as the front approaches and picks up some moisture from the Gulf. At the moment, it does not appear the front will be able to really get much going and not much rain is expected. It will pack a much bigger punch in terms of temperature, though. Highs on Thursday are currently expected to barely make it out of the 30s with very windy conditions as well.
