Welfare check leads to grisly discovery in Lee County

Human remains found in Lee County/NowGeorgia.com

On December 2, 2025, at approximately 8:00am CST, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding a welfare check on a family member that had not been heard from for several months.

Lee County Deputies responded to the 200 block of Lee Road 205 in the Salem community of Lee County, AL, and located what appeared to be human remains of an adult male laying in the yard. The victim appeared to have been there for several months.

Lee County Sheriff’s Office Investigators could not determine the identity of the person or if there was any type of foul play at that time due to decomposition. The remains will be taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for a postmortem examination to determine more information.
