Friday night brought plenty of fireworks across Northeast Georgia as several teams notched statement wins, rivalry bragging rights, and region momentum. From Rabun County’s record-breaking scoring burst against Commerce to Jefferson’s top-10 triumph over Monroe Area, Week Eight delivered no shortage of highlights.
#4 Rabun County 55, Commerce 28
The Wildcats stayed perfect, and the 55 points marks a best-ever output against rivals Commerce. Tate Kirk had four TD passes for the Tigers, who move to 0-7. Two went to Ty Sorrells, and two to Essien Lockleer. After falling behind quickly, the Wildcats got three TDs within a two-minute span. Reid Giles totaled six TDs, three in each half including a 60-yd punt return for a TD. He added 35- and 39-yd TDs in the second half, and Ethan Hopper had a pick six. Lake Evans also had a TD run of 36 yards.

The Dragons got a key top-10 win over Monroe, as the defense once again played extremely well. Taylor McCall knocked in a pair of first half field goals to keep Jefferson in the game at 7-6. Before the break, Colton Grant threw a 43-yd TD to Dalton Dye for the go-ahead 12-7 lead. McCall added another FG in the third, and Dye had an 11-yd TD run in the fourth. CJ Hays eclipsed 200 yards rushing in the game.
Ringgold 21, Union County 7
Union County was tied at seven with Ringgold at the break, but again injuries derailed the Panthers, and costly turnovers as well.
