Two critically injured in Banks County UTV crash

MAYSVILLE, Ga. — Two people were critically injured late Saturday night when a utility terrain vehicle overturned in Banks County.

Banks County Fire and Emergency Services responded to a reported UTV crash with entrapment at 10:43 p.m. on Dec. 13 at 565 Gowder Road. Crews arrived to find the vehicle overturned with two occupants trapped inside, said Banks County Fire Chief Steve Nichols. Firefighters extricated both victims from the UTV.

The driver, 31-year-old Clayton Richardson of Maysville, and passenger, 28-year-old Garrett Wessels of Jefferson, were transported in critical condition to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

A third passenger, 34-year-old Chance Bugg of Colbert, was not injured. Bugg was riding in the rear of the vehicle, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol.
