
ATHENS, Ga. — The Athens-Clarke County Police Department (ACCPD) has arrested three Athens men in connection with the death of 22-year-old Antonio Jewell of Winterville.
According to ACCPD, Samtavious Clark, 23, Jeremiah Gresham, 18, and Dion Nesbitt, 18, have each been charged with murder in Jewell’s death. They also face charges of armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and criminal street gang activity.
Killed during robbery
Investigators say Jewell was killed during an attempted armed robbery in the 100 block of Madison Avenue on the evening of November 6.
ACCPD Lt. Katie Jenkins said officers responding to the scene found Jewell lying on the sidewalk with life-threatening injuries. Despite efforts by emergency personnel, he died at the scene.
Detectives determined that the incident was linked to the robbery attempt, leading to the arrests of Clark, Gresham, and Nesbitt.
