STATHAM, Ga. — A Barrow County resident is celebrating a life-changing win after claiming a $2 million top prize from the Georgia Lottery.

The winning ticket came from the $2 Million Dollar Multiplier scratch-off game and was purchased at the Publix on Atlanta Highway in Athens. Lottery officials confirmed the Statham winner claimed their prize on September 17.

The big win adds to Northeast Georgia’s growing list of recent lottery success stories. A Powerball ticket sold in Commerce earlier this month won $1 million.

Other recent lottery windfalls in Northeast Georgia include a $3 million prize-winning ticket sold in Dahlonega and two Gainesville residents who became millionaires with their Mega Millions and scratch-off ticket wins.
