The hearing is set for Thursday, August 28, at North Georgia Technical College. It will run from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and will include testimony from members of the State Election Board as well as an opportunity for public comment.

“This is a very timely topic and will likely provide some spirited debate,” said State Rep. Victor Anderson (R-Cornelia), vice chair of the study committee and chairman of the House Governmental Affairs Committee. Anderson noted that bringing the hearing to District 10 gives local citizens a chance to be directly involved in the legislative process.

The study committee is reviewing election procedures across the state, with particular attention to the makeup, focus, and accountability of the State Election Board. Lawmakers on the panel are expected to use findings from the hearings to shape future legislation on Georgia’s election laws.

Residents who wish to attend the meeting are encouraged to do so.
