Sheriff Greg Countryman posted on his social media accounts that the Corvette was traveling over 100mph at the time of the crash. The driver and passenger miraculously escaped the burning vehicle without injuries, but they are now facing charges in connection to the incident.

The driver of the Corvette has since been identified as Clifford Castillo. He is facing 20 charges, including fleeing or attempting to elude police, speeding, reckless driving, operating without a license, and no proof of insurance.

Castillo is being held without bond on all charges, and his case was bound over to Superior Court.

Sheriff Countryman posted, “We advise everyone not to drive recklessly at speeds over 100 mph, or you could end up like this formerly beautiful Corvette. The driver and passenger were both arrested, miraculously unharmed. The vehicle could not say the same. Make smarter choices, Muscogee County. Slow down. Save lives.”
