
The Athens-Clarke County Police Department is renewing its call for information in the unsolved 2016 shooting death of Daniel Macias.
On Saturday, August 13, 2016, at about 2:38 a.m., Macias, 28, of Athens, was shot during an encounter with an individual at Hancock Avenue and Jackson Street in downtown Athens. He died from his injuries.
A person of interest was seen just minutes earlier, at 2:35 a.m., walking along Hancock Avenue in front of the courthouse parking deck. Detectives are asking the public to help identify and locate this person.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest. The Macias family is offering an additional $10,000 reward for information that leads to both an arrest and conviction.
