Friday nights, Saturday showdowns, and midweek matchups — the action doesn’t stop, and neither do these athletes. From record-breaking win streaks to statement victories, these programs are dominating their fields, courts, and courses. Here are your Northeast Georgia high school Teams of the Week:

Football – Lumpkin County Indians

Lumpkin County continues to impress offensively, going to Chestatee and rolling up a huge 47-9 win that puts the Indians at 3-2 overall and 1-1 in region play. The lone two losses came at the tail end of games against state-ranked opponents Cherokee Bluff and GAC. This win was the most complete win for the team so far.

Softball – Jefferson Lady Dragons

If it sounds like repeat – it is! Jefferson has now won nine straight, including three-for-three last week, with two coming against top-10 ranked teams. The Lady Dragons beat Cherokee Bluff, Mountain View, and Oconee County to roll up their record to 18-1 on the season. This is the #1 team in the state.

Volleyball – Dawson County Lady Tigers

The Lady Tigers have earned six straight wins, and won all three matches last week. Dawson beat Lumpkin, Pickens, and Fideles Christian, and the girls are now 16-2 overall and a remarkable 6-1 in region play.

Boys XC – Jefferson Dragons

The Dragons came in fourth place in the Gold Division at the prestigious Apple Hawkins Invitational at Apalachee. The boys placed two in the top-7, as Finn Wakeman came in 6th and teammate William Malueg was 7th. Ben Schroeder came in 23rd.
