The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety has announced that the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office is one of 26 law enforcement agencies in Georgia to receive a Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic (H.E.A.T.) grant for Federal Fiscal Year 2026. The funding runs through the end of September 2026.
The Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office’s award totals $141,679.01. The local H.E.A.T. unit will use the grant to develop and implement strategies to reduce traffic crashes due to aggressive and dangerous driving behaviors.
The goal of the H.E.A.T. program is to combat crashes, injuries and fatalities caused by impaired driving and speeding, while also increasing seat belt use and educating the public about traffic safety and the dangers of DUI.
“The Muscogee County Sheriff’s office will continue to do our part to ensure we help to reduce vehicle accidents involving impaired drivers with our H.E.A.T. units. Our citizens can enjoy a better quality of life when we remove impaired drivers from our roadways. The goal is to have safer roadways for all Georgians to travel with their families to their destination,” said Sheriff Greg Countryman.
