This winter’s Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) for heating, administered by the Georgia Department of Human Services, officially opened December 1, 2025. This federally funded program assists Georgia homeowners and renters with their heating bills through direct payments to home energy suppliers.

The Enrichment Services Program, the non-profit organization tasked with delivering the funds in Muscogee and surrounding counties said the opening of the LIHEAP program will be delayed. Due to federal delays caused by the recent government shutdown, LIHEAP appointments will not open on the usual dates this year according to a Facebook post from the organization Monday.

The new appointment dates for Seniors (65+) opens January 5, 2026. The general public can make appointments beginning February 2, 2026.
