A lightning strike early Thursday morning disrupted communications at the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office and Detention Center.
The strike hit around 2 a.m., knocking out phones, Internet, and other electronic systems, said office spokesperson Rob Moore.
As of Thursday afternoon, with the exception of some Internet services, systems have returned to normal at the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office and Detention Center in Clarkesville.
“Thank you for your patience as staff dealt with phone, email, and internet issues for the first part of the day,” said Moore.
Despite the outage, Moore emphasized that inmates and staff remained safe.
