Hundreds of people with various issues over the Trump Administration’s policies packed Broadway in Columbus for the No Kings 2.0 rally. Amy Bruce with Indivisible Phenix City was one of the organizers. “Look at how many members of our community came out of all different opinions and spoke their voices peacefully,” Bruce said.
Nadia who only wanted to be identified by her first name said “It’s really a diverse crowd of all ages. I was really excited to see that…release the files,” she said waving a sign. Her husband “T” was beside her. “No ICE, release the files. Get the guy the hell out of there,” he said.
Another protestor, Lisa said it’s time to embrace our differences, “racism needs to stop in all aspects. We’re all different and people lash out at what they’re afraid of and I think people need to be educated. I think there’s a lot of brainwashing going on. I think people deep down are good.”
A handful of Trump supporters stood directly across the street. The opposition was a small but vocal crowd. Bruce said “I don’t like calling them opposition because they’re not. They’re our neighbors. They could be our friends and so out here today we all need to go and talk to somebody that we haven’t talked to before. Every one of us because that’s the way we’re gonna build a community.”
