Harris County inmate back in custody after walking off work detail

A Harris County inmate is back in custody after walking off his work detail according to their investigations division.  In a Facebook post the Harris County Sheriff’s office said on October 7th at approximately 2:26 pm, the Sheriff’s office, along with the Georgia State Patrol, responded to the Idle Hour Boat Ramp area in Fortson regarding a work camp inmate, currently assigned to the Harris County Prison, who had walked away from a work detail.

Responding deputies quickly established a perimeter along Mountain Drive and Lick Skillet Road. About 20 minutes later an alert citizen reported a naked white male flagging down vehicles on Lick Skillet Road. The citizen was able to alert a nearby deputy, who made contact with the naked inmate.

The inmate was promptly taken into custody and transported back to the Prison Camp, where he was turned over to prison staff without further incident according to the social media post.
