Tadmore Elementary School teacher Christy Edwards has been appointed to the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) by Governor Brian Kemp. She is one of only three educators selected statewide to join the 18-member commission, which oversees the certification, preparation, and ethical standards of Georgia’s educators.
Edwards currently serves as the Language Lab Teacher at Tadmore, where she focuses on data-driven instruction and student achievement. She has worked in Hall County Schools for 14 years, previously teaching second, fourth, and fifth grades and providing Early Intervention Program (EIP) support. A graduate of the University of North Georgia with an ESOL endorsement from Pioneer RESA, Edwards is also a former professional learning facilitator and a member of her school’s leadership team.
Edwards said she is honored to take on this new role.
“I am truly honored and excited to be appointed to the Georgia Professional Standards Commission,” she said. “It is an honor to be part of something that helps strengthen our profession and positively impact students across Georgia.”
Hall County School Superintendent Will Schofield praised Edwards for her contributions in the classroom and beyond.
“We could not be prouder of Christy,” Schofield said. “Her commitment to students, to the craft of teaching, and to professional growth embodies the values we hold dear in Hall County. She will be an incredible voice on behalf of educators and students across the state.”
Edwards will officially join the Commission in August. The GaPSC includes nine practicing classroom teachers and plays a critical role in maintaining the quality and integrity of Georgia’s educational workforce.
