The Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) has released a new scam prevention video, made possible through financial support from the Cresswind Lake Lanier Community Fund. Sheriff Gerald Couch said the video is part of a broader public safety education effort, with a special focus on protecting seniors.

“Even though we have seen a reduction in most crime statistics in Hall County over the last year, scammers have ramped up their efforts to swindle our citizens out of their hard earned money,” said Sheriff Couch. “Many of those who have been victimized are senior adults, so we knew we needed something extra to educate the senior population.”

Couch said Cresswind residents approached the sheriff’s office after some of their neighbors were scammed. Wanting to make a difference, the community offered to fund the project so it could benefit not only their neighborhood but also residents across Hall County.

“I am beyond grateful for their financial support on this project,” Couch said. “Their generosity shows the strong partnership between our office and the community.”

The video is already being used in community meetings alongside presentations by investigators and service officers, who answer questions from residents afterward. It is also available for anyone to share and use in scam prevention efforts.
