ATLANTA, GA — Georgia Power and the Atlanta Falcons are teaming up to spread holiday cheer with a new statewide contest encouraging Georgians to show off festive displays or acts of community service. The Light Up the Holidays Contest runs Nov. 28 through Dec. 12 on Georgia Power’s Instagram page.
Participants are asked to share how they are “lighting up the holidays,” either through decorations or volunteering. To enter, Instagram users must follow @ga_power, comment on the company’s Nov. 28 contest post explaining how they or someone they know embodies the theme, tag two friends and post an original festive photo using the hashtags #GeorgiaPower and #ShowYourGlow.
Finalists will be notified via Instagram and publicly announced Dec. 15 through a collaborative post with the Falcons. Public voting will run Dec. 15–22, and Georgia Power will reveal the winner Dec. 27.
Prizes include Falcons sideline tickets and charity donations
The grand prize winner will receive four sideline tickets to the Falcons–Saints game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in January, a $5,000 donation from Georgia Power to a charity of their choice, a hotel stay, an energy savings kit and surprise Falcons merchandise.
Second place includes a $2,000 charity donation, admission to a local holiday light show, an energy savings kit and Falcons-branded items. Third through fifth place winners will receive tickets to a local light show, energy kits and Falcons surprises.
The contest is open to Georgia residents age 18 and older. Full rules and eligibility details are available through Georgia Power.
Holiday safety and energy tips
Georgia Power is also encouraging families to practice safety and conserve energy during the holiday season. Tips include using LED decorations, checking lights for damaged wiring, avoiding overloaded outlets, and using timers to control lighting use. The company also urges caution when using ladders near power lines and recommends safe operation of space heaters and electric blankets.
Homeowners can save additional energy by replacing air filters, repairing weather stripping and keeping thermostats around 68 degrees.
