HIAWASSEE, Ga. — Two former Towns County Sheriff’s Office employees were arrested on January 6th following joint investigations by the Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

The arrests provide an update to the previously reported missing firearm from the Sheriff’s Office inventory. Andrew Glass, a former Sergeant with the Uniform Patrol Division, was arrested and charged with theft by conversion, violation of oath of office, and false statements.
According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, Glass was terminated from his position last week. Officials confirmed the missing weapon has been recovered.
Glass will be booked into the Towns County Detention Center.
In an unrelated incident, former Major of Law Enforcement Operations John McCoy was also arrested. The GBI charged McCoy with theft by deception, violation of oath of office, and three counts of false statements and writings.
The investigation into McCoy began in July of 2025 at the request of Enotah Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judge Joy Parks regarding a theft allegation within the accountability court program. McCoy served as a surveillance officer for the program, where duties included home visits with participants.
“During a review of these home visits, discrepancies were identified,” the GBI stated in a press release.

McCoy was terminated from his employment at the time of his arrest and will be booked into the Union County Detention Center.
“Sheriff Coleman commends the GBI for its professionalism and assistance, as well as TCSO investigators who assisted the GBI during both investigations,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement on social media. “The Sheriff also recognizes the deputies and staff who have continued to serve the Office and community with integrity.”
