Prices at the pump rapidly fluctuate at a local Neighborhood Walmart jumping from 2.47 per gallon of regular unleaded to 2.65 per gallon in less than 24 hours. An employee at the Walmart on Manchester Expressway said the price of gas can change up to four times in one day.
“It’s just really hard especially when I’ve got an SUV and putting gas in here really adds up during the week because I do a lot of driving,” said one local shopper. Another man filling up his gas tank is taking the gas prices in stride saying “2.65 is not too bad but 2.47 is a little bit better.”
According to AAA the dramatic jump in fuel price at Walmart still beats the average price in Muscogee County which is 2.73 per gallon of unleaded. Across the state of Georgia the average price of gasoline is 2.80 per gallon. AAA updates its website daily to reflect changes in price and states overall prices remain low in Georgia as the demand for gas stays flat.
