A Douglasville man is in custody after leading deputies on a high-speed chase that topped 120 mph along Interstate 85 Wednesday morning.

Around 11:45 a.m. on August 13, Franklin County deputies spotted a vehicle on GA Hwy 17 that had previously fled from law enforcement in South Carolina. When a deputy attempted a traffic stop, the driver — later identified as 25-year-old Tyler Evans — refused to pull over and accelerated onto I-85 Southbound, says Franklin County Sheriff Scott Andrews.

Deputies say Evans drove recklessly, weaving through traffic and passing vehicles on the shoulder at extreme speeds. As the pursuit approached mile marker 166, a Franklin County deputy executed a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver, bringing the vehicle to a controlled stop.

Evans was taken into custody without further incident. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office has not released details on charges.
