FRANKLIN COUNTY — A Forsyth man is behind bars after leading deputies on a multi-county chase Monday afternoon that ended in Franklin County.

According to Sheriff Scott Andrews, the pursuit began around 3:50 p.m. when Madison County deputies reported a silver Toyota fleeing from a traffic stop on Highway 29. The vehicle headed toward Franklin County, where local deputies moved in to assist.

Deputies say the driver, identified as Jared Lonnie Moore of Forsyth, Georgia, ignored barricades and drove across a bridge that was under construction before entering Franklin County. Deputies from both counties continued the chase as Franklin County deputies deployed stop sticks, deflating the car’s tires.

Despite the damage, Moore kept going. The chase finally came to an end when a Franklin County deputy performed a PIT maneuver, forcing the car to stop.

Moore was arrested at the scene without further incident. Authorities say he faces multiple charges, including theft of a motor vehicle.

Sheriff Andrews praised the coordinated response between agencies, noting that the chase was ended safely before other motorists were harmed.
