A Cleveland family and their pets escaped safely Tuesday night after a fire broke out in the bathroom of their home on Bonnie Pearl Lane.
The fire was reported around 8 p.m. on August 19. Flames and smoke were spreading inside when the residents called 911, but they managed to get out before help arrived, according to White County Fire Service spokesperson Bryce Barrett.

When they arrived, firefighters found light smoke showing from the single-family house. Three crew members went inside and quickly knocked down the blaze, keeping it from spreading beyond the bathroom, Barrett said.
One person was checked at the scene by medics but did not need hospital treatment. Firefighters stayed on site to make sure there were no hot spots before clearing the scene just after 9 p.m.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
White County Fire Services, Cleveland Fire Department, White County EMS, and the White County Sheriff’s Office all assisted in the response.
