Elsa Lopez, age 89, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away on October 2, 2025.
Elsa was born on December 30, 1935, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to Josephina Perez and Felix Rodriguez. She attended the University of Puerto Rico and obtained her Master’s in Counseling. As her life continued, she became a counselor at the Georgia State Prison System. She married her late husband, Diego Lopez and they built a beautiful life together.
Elsa loved line dancing and playing po-keno with her friends, “The Golden Girls.” She enjoyed crocheting and watching Turkish soap operas, teaching Spanish, and just listening to and counseling others. She was a wonderful, loving mother and devoted friend to those who knew her.
She is predeceased by her parents, Felix Rodriguez and Josephina Perez, her husband, Diego Lopez, and her brother, Jesus Manuel.
She is survived by her sons, Roberto Lopez and Jesus I. Lopez, daughter-in-law Kimberly Lopez, and granddaughter Summer Jordan.
A funeral service for Elsa will be held at a later date for family and friends to attend.
