District 2 Public Health is again making it simple to get your flu shot this fall. County health departments across North Georgia will host drive-thru flu clinics, so you can roll down your window, get vaccinated, and be on your way.

Since 2007, District 2 Public Health has offered drive-thru flu clinics to the community as an accessible option, particularly for individuals with accessibility and functional needs.

Drive-thru flu clinics are available in addition to walk-in services at all health departments during usual hours.

Who should get the flu shot

The flu shot is recommended for everyone ages 6 months and up, except for those who have had a severe allergic reaction to the flu vaccine or any of its components.

The flu vaccine is offered at no cost with most insurance plans, so participants will just need to bring their insurance details.

If paying out of pocket, the regular flu vaccine is $30, and the high-dose flu vaccine for adults 65 years and older is $66.

Why it matters

According to public health officials, getting a flu shot helps protect you, your family, and your community. Last year, nearly 2,900 people in District 2 went to the emergency room with the flu. The CDC says, “Getting a yearly flu vaccination is the best way to prevent flu and its potentially serious complications.”
