Curtiss Todd, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 10, 2025.
Born in Toccoa, Georgia, to Garnett and Agnes Todd on April 4, 1941, Curtiss lived a life marked by service, strength, and love. At the age of 17, he joined the United States Army, where he served honorably for 21 years, including two combat tours in Vietnam. He retired as a Sergeant First Class, having earned the respect of his fellow soldiers and the enduring gratitude of his country. His military service shaped the values of integrity, resilience, and dedication that guided him throughout his life.
Following his military career, Curtiss became a successful car salesman, known for his ability to connect with people from all walks of life. He had a gift for conversation, a strong work ethic, and a genuine desire to help others—traits that made him both trusted and admired in his community. Curtiss was a steady and loving presence in the lives of his family. He was a source of strength, wisdom, and comfort, and he found great joy in cooking for those he loved. His cornbread was a family favorite, and he had a knack for turning even the simplest meal into something memorable.
Curtiss is survived by his loving wife, Nellie; daughter and son-in-law Kathryn and Rob; daughter and son-in-law Rebecca and Jim; granddaughters Madelaine (Korey), Brianna, Mary Beth, and Lindsay; step-grandchildren Marisa (MaKenzie), Monica, and Jimmy; and great-grandchildren Willow and Thomas. He is also survived by his brother Gerald, nephews Travis and Chase, sister Sylvia, and many other nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister.
A man of strong faith, Curtiss attended Glade Creek Baptist Church in Mt. Airy. He found comfort and guidance in the Bible and lived his life with a quiet devotion to God and others. Though his passing brings sorrow, his family finds peace in knowing that he is now at rest and reunited with loved ones who have gone before him.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Mt. Bethel Community Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256, or by visiting woundedwarriorproject.org.
Curtiss will be remembered for his unwavering strength, his kind heart, and the lasting impact he had on all who knew him.
