CORNELIA, GA — The Cornelia Police Department is calling on the community to help make the holiday season brighter for local children during a special Toy Drive event scheduled for this Monday, November 24.

Hosted in partnership with Bojangles and Walmart, the event will take place at the Bojangles located at 491 Historic Hwy 441 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

While the police department reports that their conference room is already filling up with donations, organizers emphasized that there is still a critical need to fill the gap for older children. The department is specifically requesting new, unwrapped toys for boys and girls ages 8 to 13.

“Our conference room is covered in gifts, but we still need a few more,” said Cornelia Police Department Chief Johnathan Roberts. “Our community always comes through, and we are asking for the public’s help to bring Christmas to some local kids.”

The event is designed to be more than just a donation drop-off. It will serve as a community meet-and-greet where residents can interact with local officers. To encourage safety during the holiday travel season, the department will also conduct free on-site car seat inspections.

Attendees can enjoy Bojangles biscuits while helping the department reach its goal.
