
CORNELIA— The Cornelia Police Department has once again been recognized by the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police (GACP) for achieving State Re-Certification, a distinguished honor that places the department among Georgia’s most elite law enforcement agencies.
This latest re-certification, which remains in effect for three years, underscores the Cornelia Police Department’s 18-year commitment to adhering to the highest standards of public safety and professional practice. The department, which first achieved certification in July 2007, was the first agency in Habersham County to receive this prestigious recognition.
A testament to dedication and high standards
Achieving and maintaining State Certification is a rigorous process, signifying a thorough and meticulous review of all departmental policies, practices, and adherence to state law enforcement standards.

The Cornelia Police Department successfully underwent a comprehensive review by experienced law enforcement professionals and two committees before receiving final approval for the esteemed recognition.
