
Homicide detectives are working an active investigation on Brookstone Boulevard in Columbus. 65-year-old Norman Lane was pronounced dead on the scene late Monday October 6, 2025.
Lane died from shotgun wounds and the murder could be the result of a possible home invasion. The victim was found with his handgun next to him by his next of kin.
Columbus Police Officers initially responded to the home in the 6200 block of Brookstone Boulevard in reference to a possible burglary. Upon arrival, officers observed signs of forced entry into the home and located a deceased male with gunshot wounds inside the
residence. Deputy Coroner Ben Saxon arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased at 9:09 p.m.
The Violent Crimes Unit was called to the scene to take lead on the investigation.
