COLUMBUS, Ga. — Week Nine of Georgia high school football delivered a mix of nail-biters and statement wins across the Columbus area. Local squads took the field, each facing crucial late-season matchups as playoff positioning tightens.
Carver-Columbus edged Americus-Sumter in a defensive struggle, pulling out an 8-7 win to keep their postseason hopes alive. Across town, Brookstone held off Pacelli Catholic 19-14 in a classic private-school rivalry battle that came down to the final minutes. Meanwhile, Harris County fell just short in a 14-12 heartbreaker against Starr’s Mill.
