CLARKESVILLE, Ga. — A 50-year-old woman faces multiple felony charges following an incident Monday evening that began as a shoplifting call at a local Dollar General and ended with the discovery of contraband inside the county jail.
Deputies were dispatched to the Dollar General on Highway 17 in Clarkesville shortly after 7 p.m. on November 24, regarding a theft in progress.
According to the incident report, four separate store employees observed the suspect, identified as Manie Goolsby, 50, concealing merchandise. Goolsby was captured on surveillance camera taking items from the makeup aisle and placing them into her bag without paying. While employees alleged that Goolsby had previously shoplifted from the location, they told deputies, “this time [she] was caught.”
Following the initial arrest for theft, Goolsby was transported to the Habersham County Jail for processing.
The situation escalated during the booking process when authorities discovered that Goolsby had allegedly concealed narcotics on her person. Reportedly, she brought more than 35 pills past the facility’s “guard lines” and into the jail.
As a result of the discovery, Goolsby is facing several charges, including possession of a controlled substance, crossing guard lines with weapons/drugs/intoxicants, tampering with evidence, and theft by shoplifting.
