CLARKESVILLE, GA — A Clarkesville man remains in custody without bond following a domestic dispute on the afternoon of November 18, that allegedly left a female victim injured and unable to call for help.
Dusty Banfield, 35, was arrested by Habersham County Sheriff’s Office deputies at a residence in the 900 block of West Glade Creek. He has been charged with false imprisonment, battery under the Family Violence Act (FVA), criminal trespass, and interference with a 911 call.
According to the incident report, the investigation began when the victim arrived at the lobby of the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office to report the assault. She told deputies that Banfield had cornered her in a hallway at the residence, physically preventing her from leaving.
The victim stated she was “hit several times in the head” during the altercation and expressed concern that she may have broken a finger. EMS personnel who treated the victim noted “several knots on her head consistent with being hit or kicked,” corroborating her account of the physical assault.
The situation reportedly escalated when the victim attempted to call for help. The report alleges that Banfield grabbed the victim’s phone while she was trying to dial 911, broke the device, and threw it into a toilet to prevent the call from going through.
Following the interview with the victim, deputies proceeded to the residence on West Glade Creek. They located Banfield at the scene and placed him under arrest without incident.
Banfield was transported to the Habersham County Jail, where he is currently being held without bond.
