Athens-Clarke County police arrested a 74-year-old man Monday after a woman was found shot inside a Baxter Street business, authorities said.
Officers responded around 6:38 a.m. to reports of gunfire in the 900 block of Baxter Street, according to the Athens-Clarke County Police Department. They found a woman inside a business suffering from gunshot wounds. EMS crews took her to a local hospital for treatment. Her condition was not released.
Investigators later identified the suspected shooter as Carl Clark of Athens. Clark was taken into custody and is charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery and criminal attempt to commit murder, police said.
