Adult, child displaced after fire in Stephens County

Emergency crews with Carnes Creek Fire Department in Toccoa responded Monday, May 26, to a residential structure fire in the 4000 block of Prather Bridge Road, where one adult and a toddler were displaced.

The fire has since been extinguished, and both occupants of the home were able to escape the blaze, though the adult sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by EMS.

According to officials, the Red Cross has been contacted to provide assistance to the displaced individuals.

Firefighters from Station 2, Station 4 and Station 6 responded alongside EMS and sheriff’s deputies. During the incident, both lanes of Prather Bridge Road were closed to allow emergency crews to operate safely.

The cause of the fire has not yet been released.
