MARSHALL, TX – Piedmont women’s basketball saw its offense stifled in a 68-47 loss to Linfield on Saturday afternoon in Marshall, Texas.
Less than 24 hours after a close loss to No. 8 East Texas Baptist Friday night, the Lions were tasked with taking on another undefeated team in the Wildcats.
Linfield proved up to the task, jumping out to a 21-11 lead after one quarter and a 36-23 lead at the break.
While the Lions battled back and cut their deficit to six points late in the third quarter, the Wildcats shut the door with a dominant fourth quarter to run away with the win.
Alexandria Willis was the lone Lion to reach double figures in the game, scoring 13 points in just 17 minutes on 5-of-7 shooting while battling foul trouble. Senior Hayley Borino earned the start in the backcourt and led the team with three assists. Kylie Watkins led the team with four steals.
One day after winning the rebounding battle with East Texas Baptist, the Wildcats held a 35-27 rebounding edge on Saturday.
Up next, the Lions will have a lengthy break before returning to action at home, hosting LaGrange on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 2 p.m. in the CCS opener.
