ATHENS, Ga. — The Athens-Clarke County Police Department (ACCPD) confirmed Monday that 77-year-old Lillie Mae Wade, missing since Friday night, was found dead after an extensive search.
Wade was discovered around 1:30 p.m. on October 27 in the area of Dairy Pak Road. She had last been seen near her home off Hancock Avenue.
Police and partner agencies spent the weekend searching with K-9 units, drones, ATVs, and aviation support. Officers and volunteers covered miles of ground as the community joined in the effort.
“We express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Lillie Wade,” ACCPD said. “We are deeply appreciative of our community members and partner agencies for their assistance and support.”
Earlier Monday, police urged residents to avoid Barber Street, Dairy Pak Road, and Newton Bridge Road while search teams worked.
Wade’s death remains under investigation.
