There’s something special about seeing athletes give their all—not just for medals, but for the love of the game. That spirit was on full display this weekend as Banks County’s Special Olympics bocce teams competed at the Fall Games in Valdosta, bringing home top honors and even bigger smiles.
The Banks Bocce Crew took first place, led by Mauricio Garcia-Ortega, Taylor Cheek, and Nathan Wood.

Not far behind, the Banks Blue Leopards Bocce team earned second place, with strong performances from Rhett Beard, Gavin Self, Lauren Kate Edwards, and Katie Fields. Their silver finish capped a weekend of steady play and sportsmanship.

Adding to the celebration, the Banks Junior Leopards Bocce team also captured first-place honors. Young athletes Addalyn Schofield, Annalyn Schofield, Lane Pirkle, and Trey Schofield brought home the gold.
