BALDWIN — The Baldwin City Council will wrap up its series of five public hearings Thursday as it prepares to set the city’s 2025 property tax rate.
The council will hold two special-called meetings—one at 11 a.m. and another at 6 p.m.—at the Baldwin Municipal Courtroom, 155 Willingham Ave. The morning session will serve as the fourth public hearing on the proposed millage rate increase, and the evening meeting will include the fifth and final hearing, followed by a vote on the city’s 2025 millage rate resolution.
The Georgia Department of Revenue requires municipalities to conduct three public hearings when proposing a tax increase, but Baldwin has extended its outreach to five hearings this year. City officials have said the additional sessions were intended to give residents more opportunities to provide feedback.
At last month’s meetings, council members discussed the fiscal pressures of inflation-related increases in materials and service costs. The meetings come just two days before the city’s 8th annual Fall Festival, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 18, from noon to 8 p.m. at The TAP Yard.
Both hearings are open to the public. Residents unable to attend may view the hearings on the city’s Facebook page.
