
Three people are in police custody for a drive by shooting in Columbus that claimed the lives of a 17-year-old and her unborn child. On Thursday, October 2, 2025, the Columbus Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit obtained warrants for three suspects in the Juniper Avenue shooting. That same day, the Fugitive Unit arrested Javon Seals, 21, and Deandre Scranton, 18, in Columbus, while Landon Owens, 21, was taken into custody in Troup County. Owens was extradited to Columbus on Friday, October 3, 2025, and booked into the Muscogee County Jail.
All three are charged with Murder, Aggravated Assault x4, Feticide, Drive-by Shooting, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Scranton faces an additional charge of Theft by Taking (Motor Vehicle). They are scheduled to appear in Recorder’s Court for a preliminary hearing on Monday, October 6, 2025, at 1:30 p.m.
On Sunday, July 27, 2025, at approximately 1:10 a.m., Columbus Police Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 2600 block of Juniper Avenue. Upon arrival, two female victims were located with gunshot wounds—one at the scene and another inside a vehicle on nearby Japonica Drive.
Both victims were transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional. One of the victims, 17-year-old Keiauna McFadden, who was also pregnant, was later airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta in critical condition. On Friday, August 1, 2025, McFadden was pronounced deceased at 4:08 p.m. The second victim was treated for her injuries and released from the hospital.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the shooting occurred during a gathering at the residence on Juniper Avenue. This case remains under active investigation.
