CORNELIA, Ga. — Goodwill of North Georgia will celebrate 10 years of service in Cornelia on Sunday, Sept. 28, a milestone that coincides with the organization’s 100th anniversary of workforce development across the state.
The public is invited to attend the event, which begins at 11 a.m. at the Cornelia Career Center, 308 Habersham Hills Circle. The celebration will feature remarks from Goodwill leadership, recognition of community partners, and opportunities for residents to learn more about Goodwill’s programs and services.
Since opening the Cornelia center in 2015, Goodwill has provided free training and career services to more than 13,000 residents and helped connect more than 6,500 people to jobs. Programs in customer service, welding and phlebotomy remain among the center’s most in-demand offerings.

Success story
One local success story is Tiffany Lee, who overcame legal barriers to employment with support from Goodwill staff. After completing the Customer Service Retail program and building her résumé, Lee secured a full-time position at Bojangles in May 2024, starting as an assistant manager.
“Tiffany’s story is remarkable but common for us at Goodwill of North Georgia, where our mission is to put people to work,” said Jenny Taylor, the group’s chief mission officer and vice president of career services. “Our decade of service to Cornelia and century of service to Georgia is a testament to our foundation of service, and we will continue to build on that foundation for generations to come.”
Regional impact
Goodwill of North Georgia serves a 45-county region with more than 100 stores and donation centers, 14 career centers and a mobile career center. The nonprofit has helped more than 700,000 Georgians since 1925, including connecting more than 300,000 to jobs. In fiscal year 2025, the group was ranked the top Goodwill nationwide for job placements for the sixth time, helping more than 24,000 North Georgians secure work.
Through its career services, Goodwill supports veterans, people with disabilities, youth, single parents, the underemployed and individuals with criminal backgrounds.
