The new 6,500-square-foot visitor center has a spacious front porch overlooking Lake Trahlyta and surrounding mountains. It includes a gift shop with books, apparel, hiking gear, camping essentials, and grab-and-go meals.

BLAIRSVILLE, Ga. — One of the oldest state parks in the nation is set to celebrate the grand opening of its brand-new visitor center. Georgia’s Vogel State Park will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, August 7, at 11 a.m.

The public is invited to attend the event, which will be held at the park’s new lakeside facility, located at 405 Vogel State Park Road.

Speakers will include Georgia Department of Natural Resources Commissioner Walter Rabon and State Parks and Historic Sites Director Angie Johnson, who will highlight the park’s legacy and the importance of this new development for outdoor recreation in Georgia.

The 6,500-square-foot visitor center sits beside scenic Lake Trahlyta and will serve as the main hub for the thousands of hikers and nature lovers who visit the park each year. Designed with rustic charm, the center pays homage to the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), whose work during the Great Depression helped establish Vogel State Park.

Visitors will enjoy a spacious front porch overlooking the lake and surrounding mountains, along with a modern interior featuring a gift shop offering souvenirs, books, apparel, hiking gear, camping essentials, and grab-and-go meals.

Parking is $5. For more information, visit GaStateParks.org/vogel or call 706-745-2628.
