Martha Butler Smith Sewell, age 81, of Baldwin, Georgia, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2025.
Mrs. Sewell was born on October 25, 1943, in Cobb County, Georgia, to the late Tom Butler and Lois Ledbetter Butler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Grady P. Smith; her second husband, Johnny Sewell; her sisters, Rachel Keith and Mary Smith; as well as her brothers, Matthew Butler, Luke Butler, John Butler, and Paul Butler. Martha was a homemaker and loved her family deeply.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Loretta and Sammy Lee Dingle, of Baldwin; daughter, Marilyn Chitwood, of Lavonia; son, John Wayne Smith, of Baldwin; son and daughter-in-law, Walter Grady Smith and Lisa, of Hartwell; sister, Magalene Brown, of Alabama; two grandchildren, Sammie Lee Dingle, Jr. and Crystal Loretta Dingle, both of Baldwin.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 8, 2025, at the Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Byrd officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., Friday, August 8, 2025, at the church prior to the service.
