A Gainesville man died Thursday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash on McEver Road, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.

The fatal collision occurred around 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of McEver Road and Vineyard Way.

Investigators say 36-year-old Sandra Raquel Garcia of Gainesville was driving a 2019 Honda Civic and was stopped in the southbound turn lane, waiting to turn left onto Vineyard Way. A southbound 2014 Nissan Sentra, driven by an 80-year-old Gainesville man, rear-ended Garcia’s vehicle, pushing it into the intersection. A northbound 2024 Kia Forte, driven by 39-year-old Brooke Allison Tortorigi of Gainesville, then struck Garcia’s car on the side.

Hall County Fire Rescue transported the Sentra driver to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities are working to notify his next of kin.

Garcia, her 10-year-old male passenger, and Tortorigi were all taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The southbound lanes of McEver Road were shut down for about 90 minutes as authorities investigated and cleared the scene. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Unit continues to investigate the crash.
