The Habersham County School District has installed a massive LED screen at Raider Stadium. The $465,000 video display is nearly two stories tall and spans over 1,000 square feet. It was installed over the weekend on the west side of the stadium between the football and softball fields.
The Habersham County Board of Education unanimously approved the expenditure at its July 28 meeting. The money came from Assigned Local Capital Projects funds.

Football field upgrades since 2015
The school district has made a series of significant renovations to Raider Stadium and John Larry Black Field in the last decade, totaling more than $3.6 million.
In 2015, the Board of Education approved spending $2.5 million from its “reserve account” to pay for the installation of a new artificial turf field, an 8-lane running track, and a new LED stadium. That project also included infrastructure for improved communications and the installation of a video display scoreboard on the east end of the field.
In 2020, the school district spent approximately $90,000 to add 600 new stadium-style seats to the reserved section on the home side of Raider Stadium. The seats were removed the following year at a cost of $4,225. Superintendent Franklin told Now Habersham those seats remain in storage.
And last year, in 2024, Habersham Schools spent $621,400 to replace the turf on John Larry Black Field using funds from a capital projects account.
