MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Piedmont women’s golf completed its opening round on Sunday at the Montgomery Women’s Intercollegiate at Montgomery Country Club.
Facing difficult conditions, the Lions battled with a consistent effort across the board.
Although no player was able to break into the 70’s, Piedmont counted scores of 80, 81, 81 and 84.
After struggling in the early going, Erin Donovan closed out her round strong, playing her final four holes in 1-under par, including a birdie at the last to get in the clubhouse with an 8-over 80.
In her first event after earning USA South Rookie of the Week honors, freshman Aubree Hill led the team with four birdies to post a 9-over 81.
Fellow freshman Zoe Shuttlesworth matched Hill’s 9-over 81, making birdie at the par-5 18th as well.
Piedmont’s final counting score came courtesy of junior Keegan Goins, who carded an 84 while freshman Lila Polakowski delivered a non-counting 88.
Competing as an individual. Marissa Weaver posted a 94.
Mary Hardin-Baylor sits atop the team leaderboard at 14-over, two strokes ahead of host school Huntingdon.
